Activities in Beechtree
The importance of activities in everyone’s life cannot be overlooked. By taking part in activities Residents are ‘doing’ something positive with their time, engaging with others and interacting even in the absence of verbal communication. They might create things during arts and crafts to be proud of or for others to admire. Here in Beechtree we like to put the emphasis on fun and adventure for all. The Residents make suggestions of places to visit so their outings can be planned in advance to a place that is of interest to them. At their meetings, they put forward ideas for what activities they would like for the month ahead.
Some of the Activities we have in Beechtree include:
- Visiting animals (Wooly Wards Farm)
- Arts and crafts
- Reflexology, Massage, Sonas
- Exercise class by external fitness instructor
- Outings are organised using the Beechtree minibus for shopping or visits to local and historical sites
- Card games
- Movie night
- Lawn Bowls
- Poetry Reading and Costume Reminiscence
- Newspaper reading
- Peata – Pet Therapy
On special occasions there are parties for the Residents birthdays, Family meals, Residents Christmas Party, St Patrick Day celebrations, The Alzheimer’s Tea Party and much more. In Beechtree the Residents love the fun of Blind Date and the ‘Rose of Beechtree’ and have enjoyed the music from local Adult and Montessori Children’s choirs.
