News from May

Hi All, sorry this news from May is a little late, we have been so busy its taken time to try and get back to write it all down.
Beechtree had a great month of May with lots of activities packed in.
We started it off with the Alzheimer’s tea party with all proceeds being donated to the Alzheimer’s association of Ireland. Janice and her crew whipped up some delicious pastries and all was served on our best china.

We had our summer BBQ on May 16th, the weather was amazing allowing us to have a sunny BBQ out in our courtyard. We had face painters, balloon maker, music and of course yummy food. Staff came together and made the day very special for all of our residents and families.

Beechtree were delighted to have Lenny The Dementia Friendly Barber visit in May. Most of our male residents treated themselves to a shave and haircut. Lenny travels around nursing homes bringing his skills into the home setting. The gents scrubbed up to so well we headed out to the local establishment for a few cold drinks later that day. With the glorious sunshine we sat out in Oldtown Bars beer garden and had lots of fun.

Beechtree had a great afternoon over at the Donkey Shed, Ashbourne, visiting their farm animals and some delicious food after. We also had our monthly visit from Wooly Wards Mobile Farm, where our residents enjoyed the interactions with some very cute animals.
We were delighted to have Phil Mhic Phibin bring her mindfulness class to Beechtree this month and we look forward to having her in regularly. Phil uses our peaceful drishogue sitting room and brings candles, music and stillness with her, and we are so happy to not only offer this to residents but also to staff.
